CAROLINA MORACE CT DELLA NAZIONALE DI CALCIO FEMMINILE DEL CANADA PRESENTA LA SUA SQUADRA
La squadra canadese in ritiro a Roma con il suo coach
Si è tenuto oggi all’Ambasciata del Canada un incontro tra Carolina Morace, commissario tecnico della Nazionale femminile di calcio canadese e la stampa italiana. Presente la squadra al completo, con la tradizionale divisa bianco-rossa, capeggiata dal capitano Diana Matheson. Ha fatto gli onori di casa l’Ambasciatore del Canada James Fox.
Attualmente la squadra canadese e il suo coach si trovano in ritiro a Roma per prepararsi alle qualificazioni che si terranno a Cancun, Messico (25 ottobre – 8 novembre) in previsione della Coppa del Mondo nell’estate 2011. Campionato dove il Canada proverà ad essere protagonista.
Carolina Morace, che era accompagnata delle sue assistenti Elisabetta Bavagnoli (anch’essa italiana) e Andrea Neil (già capitano della Canadian National Senior Team), ha esordito sottolineando l’ottima salute di cui gode il calcio femminile in Canada dove il soccer non è affatto considerato uno sport esclusivamente maschile; ne sono la prova le 350.000 tesserate della federazione femminle canadese. Nessuna delle calciatrici presenti ha mai incontrato la minima difficoltà pratica (o perplessità da parte della famiglia) ad avvicinarsi a questo sport, quasi tutte lo praticano fin dalla più tenera età; i club di calcio femminili sono tanti e presenti su tutto il territorio.
In Canada non esiste ancora un campionato femminile ma la Morace si è detta fiduciosa in merito; nel frattempo, il CT punta alla qualificazione che porterà la “sua” squadra in Germania per la Women’s World Cup, dal 26 giugno al 17 luglio 2011.
Le differenze fondamentali tra il calcio in Italia e il soccer in Canada? La Morace spiega che il Canadà ha sinora puntato sulla “muscolarità” e la prestanza fisica, mentre lei, rappresentante della scuola italiana, mette l’accento maggiormente sulla tecnica, la tattica, l’astuzia. Sotto la sua direzione, la Women’s National Soccer Team sta fondendo le due anime e la squadra si avvia decisamente ad ottenere ottimi risultati.
Molto tangibile il feeling di stima ed amicizia che si è instaurato tra la coach italiana e le sue giocatrici. CT della Nazionale canadese dal febbraio 2009, Carolina Morace ha detto di essere stata accolta calorosamente dai Canadesi e di essersi ambientata molto felicemente in Canada, paese di cui ha detto di apprezzare la bellezza, il modo di vivere, e l’amore per lo sport.
